What kind of motorcycle should I Buy?

May 20, 2010 Author admin

Guest is asking: I’m a little over 5′ tall, have a 30″ inseam (i’m a girl) and have been sick for a long time. Now that I’m pretty well recovered from a bypass surgery I want to but myself a motorcycle. I need to know the difference between the Honda shadow (aero, VTX,etc. ), Kawasaki Vulcan, and the Suzuki Intruder, C50, Yamaha V Star, etc. I’, looking for 500cc to 800cc’s. I want to get by on a budget but want the extras like saddlebags, sissy bar, windshield, front floor boards and crash bar. Should I buy a cheaper bike and add all the accessories or buy one that is tricked out already? How many miles is too many? I’d like to stay between 3,500 and 4,500 total but that is not set in stone. Does anyone know the difference in quality of these bikes, and what the % of problems might be for specific brands so I can rate them? I trust the Honda name and never had one I had to get work done on but I’m told they are all pretty much the same. Any advice for a girl who’s been out of the game for 15 years or so? I’m trying my best to make an informed decision before I just jump off in to it and make a mistake but I’m getting impatient and confused. Any cycle mechanics got any info. they can share? Which would you pick and why? My family and I are not sure if this is my midlife crises or a legitimate deep, want so I’m worried about going “All In” on the money part. I just turned 50 and was pretty sure I wasn’t going to make it! Anyway. . . Need some good advice. Also where could I take a good motorcycle safety course? I live in Houston, Tx. Any small or detailed answers will be appreciated. Thanks for reading.
